STRAIGHT AHEAD, Pass 1:
Now that we've blocked out our main poses, it's time to start articulating the movements. This is not the phase where you need to get everything right. What you need to do is work out the majority of the timing and overlapping. It doesn't have to be perfect but it, like the blocking phase, has to set up a good base for you next phase. Don't worry too much about the fingers and eyebrows, just get them in generally the right place.

STRAIGHT AHEAD PASS 1

| NOTES: Well this isn't a perfect pass. As you can see I changed up a number of poses that worked better with the movement and rhythm. There is still much to be done but the basic timing is there. What's left is fixing arcs, subtle gestures, and more facial movement. The thing to remember is that you piece will constantly change and evolve. I'll probably be removing the head shake on "They say...".

STRAIGHT AHEAD, Pass 2:
Here is yet another pass over the animation. Here I have continued to fix timing and add a bit of facial. There are still a lot of fine tuning left, but now you can start to get a real sense of how the clip is heading. After this stage we will block in the lip sync, while always correcting the timing and "masking" the poses.

STRAIGHT AHEAD PASS 2

| NOTES: Again this pass isn't perfect. The elbows are still popping and the fingers aren't exactly done. From this clip, we will move on and start adding the lip sync. The lip sync will effect our timing and rhythm so you must always be checking and rechecking your movements. There are, again, a number of things that need cleaning up and fine tuning, but we are getting there!

FINE TUNING, Pass 1:
This pass is all about adding in the lip sync and then seeing how that affects the timing you already set in place. For this animation, it affected it a lot. I also noticed that I had a slight tendency to accent every beat of the dialog. To fix this you'll notice that I simplified many of the movements and tried to have the face do a lot of the acting. This animation is almost done. This is the point where you refine it and then see what last, really tweaky things, are left.
